HELLO THERE!
My name is Sheila.
Although I had the worlds smallest wedding and on a shoestring budget to boot, I have always been in love with romance, weddings, and marriage. I was that little girl who believed in fairy tales and happily ever after! My proposal was on a handmade chocolate bar in the park, and we got married 5 months later. An intimate twilight wedding, with handmade invites, painted teal mason jar centre pieces and local honey party favours, we poured all of our love and personality into our wedding day. I can relate to the most down-to-earth brides, who say ‘que sera sera’, and I respect and admire the women who have lists as long as their wedding vails. I have worked with and been friends with both!
It has been a beautiful experience to work with over 900 women throughout my career as a wedding hairstylist. I love seeing womens’ faces light up when they see their hairstyle all finished, and hearing them exclaim “I could never have done this!”. It is something I enjoy doing and something I have an artistic eye for. I love working with hair.
I have been welcomed into the "getting ready" room of bridal parties for 13 years now. And what a privilege it has been. My favorite feeling is helping women highlight their natural beauty, and making them feel special and ready to celebrate. I really do see the best in people, and I love when I can allow them to see the best in themselves too!
I graduated from Delmar College of Hair and Aesthetics in Calgary, AB and received my Red Seal Certification after my apprenticeship in Canmore, AB at Vermelho Hair Salon. I styled wedding hair for 5 summers in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta with Lilies and Lace Beauty Co in Canmore and Banff. In the fall of 2016, I moved to Victoria with my husband to enjoy a west coast adventure and start a family. I am inspired by the natural beauty on the island, and have enjoyed meeting friendly new faces, styling hair and helping women feel fabulous on their big day! I joke that I am a Hipster Grandma. (Not an acual grandma, nor an actual hipster... just somewhere in between). I enjoy coffee, indie-folk music and great fashion and hair. I also enjoy knitting, candles, cozy sweaters, tea and swimming. I am an old soul and a creative spirit trying to grow the goodness in the world. One beautiful conversation and style at a time.
